The rotation of vehicles in São Paulo (SP) has been suspended since December 22, 2025. According to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET), the interruption of the measure in the capital of São Paulo occurs due to the reduction in the volume of cars recorded during the holiday period.

Known as Operation Peak Hours, the restriction on vehicle traffic in the municipal rotation reaches the capital’s Ring Road from 7 am to 10 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The suspension remains valid until next Friday (9). In this interval, drivers who have passenger cars can circulate without restrictions, regardless of the end of the plate. The resumption of the rotation is scheduled for January 12.

Measure continues to apply to heavy vehicles

The municipal administration points out that the rules continue to apply normally to heavy vehicles, including the rotation of trucks, in addition to measures such as the Maximum Restriction Zone for the Circulation of Trucks (ZMRC) and the Maximum Restriction Zone for Charter (ZMRF).

Fine for circumventing the Rodízio in SP

As established by the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), disrespecting the rotation is an infraction with a penalty and that adds points to the National Driver’s License (CNH):

Article 187. Transit in places and times not allowed by the regulations established by the competent authority:
I – for all types of vehicles”

  • Infraction – average (4 points on the CNH);
  • Penalty – fine (R$ 130.16);

How Vehicle Rotation Works

As mentioned earlier, the rotation in SP limits the circulation of cars according to the end of the sign, always on the capital’s ring road, from 7 am to 10 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The restriction works according to vehicle license plates and days of the week. Thus, after January 12, the following license plate endings cannot circulate on the respective days:

  • 1 and 2 – Mondays;
  • 3 and 4 – Tuesdays;
  • 5 and 6 – Wednesdays;
  • 7 and 8 – Thursdays;
  • 9 and 0 – Fridays.
