Performance AWD variant opens sales in 2026 with super sports car acceleration; Entry-level version, with a range of 442 km, hits the market in 2027
Rivian made official this Thursday (12) the price list and technical specifications of the new Rivian R2, its mid-size electric SUV that should dictate the pace of growth of the brand in the coming years. Positioned as a more compact and affordable alternative to the R1 line models, the utility is the size of a BYD Song Plus and bets on the balance between style, high-level performance and technological solutions aimed at everyday use.

The R2 range will consist of four variants, with launches staggered between 2026 and 2027. The top-of-the-line version, Performance AWD, will be the first to hit the market, at the end of 2026, with a suggested price of US$ 57.990 (about R$ 295 thousand). The model delivers 656 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The entry-level option, Standard RWD, will start at US$ 45,000 (R$ 230 thousand), with an estimated range of 442 km.
The long-range configuration uses an 87.9 kWh battery, ensuring up to 531 km of autonomy. In terms of recharging, Rivian adopted the NACS standard, which uses the charging plug created by Tesla. The R2’s electrical system allows you to recover from 10% to 80% of the energy in 29 minutes on fast chargers. The model also preserves the brand’s adventurous DNA, including the fully retractable rear window and off-road-specific driving modes such as “Rally” and “Soft Sand”.
The interior of the R2 features ergonomic evolutions, such as the new steering wheel equipped with “halo” haptic selectors. The infotainment system debuts Rivian Assistant, based on generative artificial intelligence for more natural voice commands. The hardware is also already prepared for level 2+ assisted driving.
The “Launch Package” adds exclusivity with the Esker Silver color, yellow brake calipers and Birch wood interior trim, reinforcing the SUV’s premium positioning in an increasingly disputed segment.
