Electric vehicle will be destined to 419 registered carters; decree also provides for CNH Social, access to BPC and professional courses
The City Hall of Belo Horizonte (PBH) presented a motorized electric tricycle as an alternative for carters prohibited from using animal-drawn vehicles in the capital. The measure is part of the Program for the Gradual Replacement of Animal-Drawn Vehicles, instituted by decree of Mayor Álvaro Damião (União Brasil).
The initiative is aimed at the 419 carters registered by the Municipal Department of Environment and Climate Change, after the ban on the use of animals in carts, in force since January 22.

The decree establishes three modalities of service: use of the tricycle by workers qualified or interested in obtaining a category A CNH; technical support for access to the Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC/Loas); and offering professional courses in the area of urban janitorial, with the possibility of working in municipal services.
To drive the vehicle, a category A license will be required. Those who do not have the document can obtain it through the CNH Social, made possible by the Undersecretary of Labor, Employment and Income and funded by the City Hall.
The tricycle is 100% electric, does not emit pollutants, has a maximum speed of 52 km/h, a load capacity of up to 300 kilograms and an estimated autonomy of 100 kilometers per recharge.
During the transition, the municipal administration registered 612 animals, submitted to microchipping, vaccination and deworming. The carters may keep possession or opt for voluntary donation.
