Heavy Duty pickup trucks receive new eight-speed transmission, 436 hp Cummins engine and luxury trim updates
Ram presented the 2026 line of its Heavy Duty pickup trucks, the Ram 2500 and 3500, with updates that focus on two main aspects: performance and technological refinement. The main technical evolution occurs in the Ram 2500, which received a substantial increase in its load capacity. Now, the model can carry more than 280 kg additional compared to the previous version, totaling a capacity of 1,287 kg — a number that more than exceeds the typical capacity of medium pickup trucks.
Mechanically, the North American giant adopts the Cummins 6.7 Turbodiesel High-Output engine. The engine delivers 436 hp of power and an impressive 148,7 kgfm of torque, but the big star of the set is the new eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer, the box has been recalibrated to offer greater fluidity and efficiency under heavy load. In terms of towing, the 2500 supports up to 8,948 kg, while the 3500 raises this level to 9,079 kg, reinforcing the line’s work vocation.

In the field of design and comfort, Ram has introduced the metallic colors Forged Blue and Zenith Silver to the catalog. In the cabin, the focus is on the top-of-the-line 3500 Limited Longhorn version, which seeks to emulate the environment of a luxury yacht or SUV. The interior is covered in leather with exclusive stitching, real wood details and the 3.0 digital rearview mirror, which improves rear visibility in complex maneuvering situations with a trailer.
The brand has also improved driver assistance systems, ensuring that the large size of pickup trucks does not compromise urban or road handling. With the arrival of the 2026 line at Brazilian dealerships, Ram tries to consolidate its hegemony in the “heavy duty” luxury segment, combining the robustness necessary for the field with the status required by the premium urban market.
