R$ 4.8 million Ferrari triples in value in three years and becomes a luxury asset

The Ferrari 812 Competizione A has established itself as one of the most profitable financial assets in the global automotive sector. In less than three years, the convertible sports car has registered an appreciation capable of almost quadrupling its original price. Part of this financial explosion is due to Maranello’s strict policy: the model was not available for the open market. Only an inner circle of 599 customers of the Italian brand received the invitation to buy.

The scale of this economic phenomenon is evident in a copy that will be offered this week by the traditional auction house RM Sotheby’s. The vehicle was configured by its first owner for US$ 852,420 (approximately R$ 4,8 million in direct conversion). Now, the estimate is that the hammer will be hit by figures between US$ 2.5 million and US$ 2.8 million (up to R$ 15.9 million).

This level of profitability brings the super sports car closer to the level of investment in rare works of art. In the case of the chassis in question, the status of “untouched item” turbocharges the projections: the car has driven a mere 129 km (80 miles) since it left the factory, attracting investors prevented from purchasing it directly.

The level of customization is another asset. The original owner injected almost US$ 150 thousand (about R$ 855 thousand) just into options. The value includes the classic Rosso Corsa paint with Nürburgring stripes, as well as a profusion of exposed carbon fiber elements. In the cabin, the Alcantara in red and black tones covers the seats, the dashboard and even the trunk — an impractical refinement, but essential for collectors vying for exclusivity.
