Operations in Água Clara intercept millionaire contraband and unusual cargo without tax documentation on BR-262
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) intercepted, in separate operations carried out in early January in Água Clara (MS), two loads that show the diversity of illegal transport that crosses Mato Grosso do Sul. In addition to a massive shipment of 600 thousand packs of smuggled cigarettes, agents seized 59 kg of human hair transported without tax documentation.
The actions took place on BR-262, a strategic route for the flow of products from the border with Paraguay and Bolivia towards the Southeast of the country. The largest seizure involved a truck loaded with cigarettes of foreign origin. The cargo, valued at millions of reais, constitutes a smuggling crime and represents a significant loss for organized crime operating in the region.

In parallel with the fight against traditional smuggling, the inspection caught the irregular transport of 59 kg of human hair. Although less bulky, this commodity has a high added value in the national aesthetics market. The cargo, which was unaccompanied by an invoice, constitutes tax illegality or embezzlement, depending on the proof of origin.
Mato Grosso do Sul, due to its geographical position, is a frequent corridor for cross-border crimes. The occurrences in Água Clara reinforce the trend of diversification of irregularly transported cargo, ranging from tobacco products prohibited in the country to luxury consumer items, such as natural locks, aiming at quick profit in large urban centers.
The goods and vehicles were sent to the competent authorities for legal procedures and the official accounting of the damage caused to the public coffers by tax evasion.
