Flagrante on BR-158 reveals combo of infractions: in addition to the 'solution' for the wind, driver had a pending toxicology test and more
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) caught, last Tuesday (30), an unusual situation and serious risk to road safety on the BR-158 highway, near Paranaíba, eastern region of Mato Grosso do Sul. A driver was intercepted driving a bus without the front windshield and, to protect himself from the wind and debris on the road, was wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The approach took place in the context of Operation Rodovida — a national action of the PRF aimed at reducing accidents during the end-of-year festivities. According to the agents who carried out the act, the passenger transport vehicle was in a precarious state of conservation. This is because, in addition to the absence of the front window and damage to the bodywork resulting from a previous collision, the bus circulated with worn tires and the tachograph — mandatory equipment for recording speed and rest — inoperative.
The driver’s situation aggravated the scenario of irregularities: the inspection found that the man had an expired National Driver’s License (CNH) and had pending toxicological tests required for professional drivers.
In a statement to the police, the driver claimed to have purchased the vehicle through the internet in the municipality of Jaciara (MT). The final destination of the trip would be Barueri, in Greater São Paulo. He justified the decision to travel under those conditions due to the high cost of hiring a tow truck service that would carry out transport between the two states.

In view of the imminent risk, the bus was seized and taken to the corporation’s yard. The driver was fined for the various accumulated traffic violations and released after administrative procedures. The PRF warned that the combination of mechanical and documentary failures in large vehicles drastically increases the probability of tragedies on federal highways.
