At the 2026 Winter Olympics, held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the value of a gold medal goes far beyond the podium for athletes from some countries. To give its competitors a boost, for example, Poland has created an aggressive incentive package that includes everything from cash to goods to a Toyota Corolla and a two-room apartment among the performance prizes.

The model chosen to reward the Poles is the Toyota Corolla Hybrid, valued at around R$ 190,000 in the European market. The sedan is equipped with a 1.8-liter electrified engine capable of generating 140 hp of combined power. As in Brazil, the sustainable appeal is evident in consumption: the car averages around 22.7 km/l.

In addition to the keys to the vehicle and the deed to the property, the Polish athlete who took the gold medal in individual sports pocketed about R$ 1.2 million, in addition to jewelry, a painting and even vacation vouchers.

Despite the millionaire motivation, Poland has not yet seen its investment in cars and real estate materialize in the current edition. Until this Thursday (19), the country was behind Brazil in the medal table, with zero gold, three silvers and one bronze.

Financial dispute out of the snow

Poland’s strategy of mixing consumer goods and money contrasts with the model of other nations, which prioritize ‘Pix in the account’. The global ranking of Olympic bonuses of this type is led by Singapore and Hong Kong, which disburse the equivalent of R$ 4.2 million and R$ 4.0 million, respectively, to their gold champions.
