Zeekr, a premium brand belonging to the Geely group (the same owner of Volvo), unveiled the new Zeekr 8X, its new bet to compete in the luxury SUV segment. The model arrives in the Chinese market with an aggressive strategy: combining an aesthetic that refers directly to the British automotive nobility with a mechanical set whose power, of 1,381 hp, enters the territory of hypercars.

British inspiration and variants

Visually, the Zeekr 8X adopts a design language that prioritizes vertical grandeur. The front highlight is the large chrome grille, with clear inspiration from Rolls-Royce models, such as the Cullinan. The optical set reinforces the Chinese brand’s own identity, featuring tapered headlights in a shape described as “lobster claw”, while the rear displays horizontal LED taillights that cross the trunk lid.

To appeal to distinct consumer profiles, Zeekr will offer variants with opposing visual appeals. In addition to the model focused on classic luxury, there is a sporty version that replaces chrome with darkened finishes, includes black wheels, orange brake calipers and a more robust rear diffuser.

Under the hood, the 8X diverges from the purely electric trend of the company’s other launches by adopting a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV). The engineering combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with three electric motors. The result in the top-of-the-line version is a combined power of 1,381 hp, a figure that puts the SUV far ahead of traditional German and Italian competitors in brute force.

Interior and positioning

Following the finishing standard that Geely has implemented in its global brands, the interior of the 8X promises high-quality materials and excess of embedded technology, with multiple screens dominating the panel. The SUV will be offered in five- or six-seat configurations, focusing on the comfort of second-row passengers.
