The most important model of the decade for the Swedish brand arrives with 800-volt architecture and LiDAR as standard to fight with Tesla Model Y and others
Volvo Cars has officially presented the EX60, an electric SUV tasked with a critical mission: to replace the XC60 — the brand’s best-selling vehicle worldwide — and consolidate the Swedish automaker’s transition to full electrification. Positioned to compete with the Tesla Model Y and the Porsche Macan EV, the model debuts the SPA3 platform, promising a leap in technological density and the return of a historic acronym.
The main technical innovation is the adoption of the 800-volt electrical architecture. The system allows charging speeds much higher than current models (such as the EX30, 400V), reducing the time to stop at charging stations to about 10 minutes to recover 340 km of range.

In terms of performance, the EX60 enters sports car territory. The top version delivers 680 hp through two engines, completing the 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Thanks to the 117 kWh battery and optimized aerodynamics, the range can reach an impressive 810 km.
The surprise of the announcement was the confirmation of the EX60 Cross Country variant. Maintaining the tradition started in the 90s, the adventurous configuration gains robust moldings on the wheel arches, reinforced bumpers and, above all, a raised suspension for greater off-road capability, visually differentiating itself from the minimalist design of the urban version.

The “brain” of the car is the Volvo Cars Superset system, powered by Nvidia Orin X chips. The structure processes data from Luminar’s LiDAR sensor — standard on the roof — to enable advanced autonomous driving functions. Internally, the model centralizes commands on a vertical screen with a native Google system. The global launch takes place in the second half of 2026, with an expected arrival in Brazil afterwards.
