Model leads sales in China and renews the 'Pro' line with updated design and mechanical assembly focused on high efficiency
The SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture has confirmed the launch of an old acquaintance of Brazilians for 2026: it is Passat, in its ePro version exclusive to the Chinese market. Initially presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the sedan is part of the brand’s new “Pro” family and marks the debut of the manufacturer’s new plug-in hybrid platform, betting on extended autonomy to maintain leadership in the segment.

The technical highlight of the Passat ePro lies in the efficiency of its powertrain. The system combines a 1.5T EVO II engine, calibrated for 95 kW, with a 194 hp electric motor. Powered by a 22 kWh battery, the vehicle offers a purely electric range of more than 150 km (in the CLTC cycle), enough to cover daily urban commutes without the use of gasoline.
On long journeys, the hybrid system reaches its maximum potential: the declared combined range is 1,300 km. The launch aims to consolidate the market position of the model, which between January and October 2025 registered almost 188 thousand units sold in China.

Visually, the model adopts the “Tech Smart Eye” language. With a length of 5.01 meters and a wheelbase of 2.87 meters, the sedan displays a continuous front light signature and illuminated logo. The rear follows the pattern with interconnected horizontal taillights.
Inside, Volkswagen has invested in the complete digitalization of the cockpit. The dashboard adopts a horizontal layout that integrates three displays: a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.9-inch central multimedia screen and a third screen dedicated exclusively to front passenger entertainment.
