Volkswagen is preparing a significant evolution for the next generation of the Amarok, scheduled to debut in early 2027. According to the Motor1 website, the model will replace the traditional V6 diesel engine with a high-performance plug-in hybrid set (PHEV). Named Amarok 800 TSI, the new version will seek to redefine the segment with numbers hitherto reserved for sports cars.

The nomenclature makes direct reference to the 81,6 kgfm, while the electrical system combined with the thermal engine should deliver more than 470 hp. With this breath, the pickup will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Automaker executives have already compared the performance of the utility vehicle to that of the Porsche Panamera, in a strategy that aims to attract consumers who seek the versatility of the bed without giving up the dynamics on the asphalt.

The basis of the new project is a multi-energy platform developed in partnership with China’s SAIC, although Volkswagen’s regional engineering works on deep adaptations to the driving conditions of Latin America. The design will have its own visual identity and robust proportions. Units with light camouflage are already carrying out durability tests on highways in Brazil and Argentina, confirming the advanced launch schedule.

Inside, sophistication replaces a focus on heavy lifting. The cabin will be marked by a set of three screens integrated into the dashboard, including a display dedicated exclusively to the passenger — a feature inherited from luxury models.
