New versions of the Riddara RD6 bring intelligent all-wheel drive, thermal system to -30°C and sports acceleration
Geely has expanded its utility vehicle portfolio in China with the launch of two new specialized versions of the Riddara RD6 pickup truck (marketed domestically as the Horizon Radar). Named Mountain Edition and Horizon High-Altitude Edition, the configurations hit the market with prices between 139.800 yuan and 151.800 yuan — approximately R$ 112 thousand and R$ 121 thousand, in direct conversion, without taxes.
The main novelty is the application of the high-performance plug-in hybrid mechanical set, focused on overcoming adverse geographical conditions. Unlike conventional electric pickup trucks that lose performance in extreme environments, Geely promises operational robustness both at high altitudes and in freezing temperatures.

Both models are equipped with the NordThor EM-P platform. The system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors, delivering a combined power of 349 hp and an expressive torque of 91.4 kgfm. The transmission is the three-speed DHT, optimized to manage this force on all four wheels.
According to the manufacturer, the set allows a total range of 1,068 km, 100 km of which are purely electric (CLTC cycle), thanks to the 19.09 kWh battery. A technical highlight is the efficiency at altitude: the system maintains 95% of its torque capacity even at 3,800 meters above sea level, allowing it to overcome ramps with 55% slope under maximum load.
The Mountain Edition focuses on recreational and functional off-roading. The model received independent suspension on all four wheels, all-terrain tires and body guards. The pickup offers an immersion capacity of 815 mm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds (empty) or 8.6 seconds (with a full load). Another useful feature is the 21 kW outdoor discharge capacity, serving as a generator for camping equipment or tools.
The Horizon High-Altitude Edition is designed for extreme cold. The battery features reinforced thermal insulation and a management system that ensures efficient starting and operation in temperatures down to -30°C. Vector traction control distributes torque in milliseconds to ensure grip on ice and snow. The package also includes remote heating via app and heated seats as standard.
