The new Nissan Versa 2026 had its look officially unveiled in Mexico, marking the start of series production of its latest aesthetic update. The model, manufactured at the Aguascalientes industrial complex, will be exported to several Latin American countries, including Brazil, where landing is expected in 2026. The renewal aims to strengthen the Japanese brand’s portfolio in a segment dominated by strong competitors such as Volkswagen Virtus, Chevrolet Onix Plus and Fiat Cronos.

New design aligned with the Kicks

The main evolution of the sedan focuses on the front, which adopts a bolder visual language and is aligned with the Kicks. The optical assembly displays a split design: LED daytime running lights positioned flush with the hood and main headlights integrated into the bumper. The front grille has also been redesigned, incorporating horizontal fillets in glossy black that connect the visual elements, giving a more aggressive and technological look to the vehicle.

At the rear, the changes are subtle but noticeable, with taillights interconnected by a darkened element and a remodeled bumper. New alloy wheels complete the exterior package. While Nissan has not released official images of the interior, the cabin is expected to receive one-off updates in materials and connectivity to elevate the product’s perception of value.

Market performance and powertrain

The update comes at a crucial time. While in Mexico the Versa is the absolute sales leader, with more than 90 thousand annual registrations and the status of successor to the legendary Tsuru, in Brazil the scenario is more challenging. In 2025, the model totaled just over 9 thousand units sold, facing strong competition. Nissan is betting that the new look will help boost the numbers in the domestic market.

Under the hood, the expectation is that the current mechanical assembly will be maintained. The 1.6-liter aspirated flex engine, which delivers up to 113 hp, should remain the only option, coupled to the CVT automatic transmission, prioritizing reliability and maintenance cost known to the public.
