K4 Sportswagon debuts with almost 4.7 meters in length and a wide variety of mechanical combinations (including electrified versions)
Contrary to the global dominance of SUVs, Kia reinforces its presence in the traditional family segment with the presentation of the K4 Sportswagon. The station wagon, unveiled during the Brussels Motor Show, arrives to complement the line that already has sedan and hatchback bodies, focusing primarily on the European market, where the demand for station wagons remains relevant compared to SUVs.
The model stands out for its expanded size compared to other configurations. At 4.695 m long, the Sportswagon is 26.5 cm longer than the hatchback version, although it keeps the wheelbase of 2.72 m unchanged. Aesthetically, the station wagon follows the brand’s “Oposites United” visual identity, while the cabin inherits the technological arrangement of the sedan, consisting of a triple panel: two 12.3-inch displays (instruments and multimedia) and a 5.3-inch auxiliary screen dedicated to climate control.

In terms of functionality, the K4 Sportswagon delivers competitiveness, but not leadership. The trunk offers 604 liters of capacity (VDA), expandable to 1,439 liters with the folding of the seats. However, in variants equipped with a mild-hybrid system (MHEV), the volume drops to 482 liters due to the batteries. Although it features electric lid opening as standard, the model falls short of segment references, such as the Skoda Octavia Combi (640 liters) and the Volkswagen Golf Variant (611 liters).

Under the hood, Kia is betting on diversification to the Old Continent. The range starts with the 1.0 T-GDi gasoline engine with 113 hp, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. More powerful options include the 1.6 T-GDi engine, calibrated to deliver 148 hp or 177 hp, the latter available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The automaker has confirmed that there will be no diesel versions, but a full hybrid configuration is expected to debut in late 2025.
