Chinese brand's top-of-the-line model debuts second-generation battery and autonomous driving technology; official launch takes place in April
BYD presented in China the new Great Tang: a large electric SUV that sets a new autonomy ceiling for the brand’s SUVs: 950 km non-stop, in the CLTC cycle (most optimistic). The model is the production version of the Dynasty-D concept, shown at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2025, and consolidates the manufacturer’s strategy of occupying luxury segments with high technological density.
With a length of 5.30 meters and a wheelbase of 3.13 meters, the vehicle adopts the visual identity “Loong Face” (dragon face). The design is functional, incorporating recessed door handles (which must be changed) and a LiDAR sensor on the roof to support advanced driving systems. The large size accommodates seven passengers in the 2+2+3 configuration.

The technical highlight lies in the second generation of the Blade battery, which features 5% higher energy density and support for charging at more than 1,000 kW. The all-wheel drive version delivers 784 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the rear-wheel drive configuration prioritizes efficiency to reach the 950 km range mark.

Internally, the Great Tang offers high-luxury features such as a 6.34 m² panoramic roof, folding tables, refrigerator and a 27-speaker sound system. The center console is dominated by three distinct screens, integrated into the DiPilot 300 system, which allows autonomous navigation on urban roads and highways.
The chassis uses the dual-chamber DiSus-A air suspension and steering rear axle, which reduces the turning radius to 5.2 meters. The commercial launch in the Chinese market is scheduled for the end of April, during the Beijing Auto Show.
