The title of hypercar is usually the exclusive territory of millionaire European brands, but the North American preparer Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) decided to challenge this hierarchy. By applying the legendary Yenko signature to the recently launched Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the company has created a hybrid monster capable of delivering a staggering 1,564 hp of combined power — enough to surpass the acclaimed original Bugatti Chiron by 64 hp.

To reach this level without compromising durability, SVE’s engineering had to go far beyond a simple electronic reprogramming. The project maintains the base of the sports car, composed of the 6.2 LT2 V8 engine center-rear working together with the front electric engine. However, the combustion heart has been entirely remade to withstand the new demands for ultra-high performance.

The brutal recipe is based on the adoption of two 58 mm turbochargers, equipped with ceramic ball bearings and liquid cooling, which now pressurize the V8. To handle the extra power, the block received forged aluminum pistons, forged steel crankshaft, H-shaped connecting rods, high-strength cylinder head bolts and a redesigned intake manifold, as well as a unique camshaft.

The eight-speed dual-clutch automated transmission was not forgotten. It underwent structural improvements and gained new torque management software per gear, optimizing the distribution of force to the all-wheel drive system. With this arsenal, the estimate is that the North American sports car will devour the quarter mile (402 meters) in the range of eight seconds, acceleration time worthy of professional drag strips.

The visual package follows the mechanical aggressiveness, incorporating exclusive forged wheels (20 inches at the front and 21 at the rear), new exhaust system, custom-painted brake calipers and the classic Yenko badges on the body and cabin. To reassure buyers, SVE offers a three-year or 60,000-kilometer warranty on the biturbo set.
