Station allows electric and hybrid cars to be recharged during store hours; see the power of the chargers
Leroy Merlin’s Morumbi unit, in the south of São Paulo, became the first in the retail chain to operate an electric station open to the public. The project, carried out by the engineering company Recharge Brasil, was officially delivered this week and is already available for use during the store’s opening hours.
The new charging hub has been sized to meet the growing demand for urban infrastructure. Installed in the parking lot, the space has five simultaneous connection points, combining different powers to serve both 100% electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. The set offers 60 kW DC fast chargers (with two outputs), a 30 kW DC unit and 7 kW AC points.

In addition to the convenience of recharging the vehicle while shopping, the project seeks to attract consumers through their pockets: recharges made on site generate cashback in Leroy Merlin’s loyalty program. According to Pedro Martins, COO of Recharge Brasil, the implementation required a detailed engineering study to integrate high-power chargers in a retail environment with high circulation, ensuring the stability of the electricity grid and the safety of users.
The initiative reflects a movement to expand private charging infrastructure. Founded in 2023, Recharge Brasil already has more than 10 megawatts of installed power in about 200 projects across the country. For Arthur Carrão, the company’s CEO, the year 2026 will be strategic for the consolidation of this market.
“We believe that the expansion of electric mobility necessarily involves increasing the infrastructure open to the public. In 2026, we continue to work hard to expand this network, connecting engineering and technology to accelerate the energy transition,” said the executive.
