Japanese automaker develops its own platform from scratch with the new '0 Series' and promises to bring its most technologically advanced vehicle to the country
After observing the race for total electrification from afar and concentrating its chips on hybrid models, Honda is preparing a change of route in Brazil. According to QUATRO RODAS magazine, the Japanese automaker plans to launch an unprecedented 100% electric model in the domestic market, part of its new global family called Series 0. The novelty will not only mark the brand’s debut in the BEV segment here, but will represent the manufacturer’s technological apex in the country.
The strategy signals a fresh start: the 0 Series will be built on an electric platform developed from scratch by Honda itself, with a global debut scheduled for 2026. The most quoted model to inaugurate this phase is a medium utility, which should be named Honda 0 SUV. From a technical point of view, the brand is betting on concentrating all driving assistance systems (ADAS) in a single high-capacity electronic center, aiming to reduce production costs and speed up vehicle data processing.

Aesthetically, the Series 0 concepts presented so far break with the brand’s conservatism. They boast a minimalist design, clean lines, wide rear columns, and screen-dominated cabins. The adoption of cameras in place of traditional exterior mirrors, however, still depends on feasibility for production versions.
The decision to bring his own project comes at a time of course correction. That’s because Honda’s late entry into the electric market was compounded by frustrating results in its partnership with General Motors. Models such as the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, based on GM technology, recorded sales far below projections, culminating in the end of the collaboration.
