GWM has made official in China the first images of the Haval HX, its new luxury SUV designed to occupy the top of the brand’s range. The model, whose definitive name will be announced on April 10, combines a severe off-road vocation with a robust state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid propulsion system.

The SUV marks the debut of the Guiyuan architecture, a highly versatile modular platform capable of supporting everything from internal combustion engines to hydrogen fuel cell systems. With generous dimensions to house three rows of seats, the vehicle is 5.5 meters long, 2.01 meters wide and 1.92 meters high. The “boxy” style, with a flat roof and 20″ chrome wheels, signals the automaker’s intention to directly rival the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

Under the hood, the utility uses the two-motor Hi4-Z system, supported by an 800 V electrical architecture. Although the final technical data is still kept confidential, the platform allows for high-performance configurations that can exceed 544 hp. At the rear, the side-opening door with external spare tire reinforces the project’s adventurous appeal.

Driver assistance technology is one of the pillars of the launch. Equipped with a LiDAR sensor on the roof, the model incorporates the artificial intelligence system “VLA” (Vision, Language and Action), capable of operating automatic navigation functions (NOA) both on highways and in complex urban environments. The technology package also includes support for fully autonomous parking and remote updates.

The launch of the Haval HX reinforces GWM’s global strategy to raise the technological level of its products. To increase engagement before the official debut, the manufacturer invited the public to suggest names for the vehicle, highlighting the weight of the SUV for the brand’s expansion plans in international markets.
