With an updated plug-in hybrid system and robust look, the new version of the luxury utility arrives with a laser sensor on the roof and 248 hp of power
Great Wall Motors, which we know here as GWM, presented the new Tank 700 Hi4-Z — a variant of its luxury SUV that expands the boundary between hybrid and electric models. The SUV stands out for its new Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid system, which allows a range of up to 190 km in purely electric mode (CLTC cycle); It is a superior mark to many other plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The launch comes just days after the automaker’s president, Wei Jianjun, anticipated details of the vehicle on his social networks. While preserving the imposing size and “boxy” design of the Hi4-T version, the new model brings discreet functional updates, such as a hood with more pronounced air intakes and redesigned bumpers with divisions in three sections.

The main technological innovation is the inclusion of a LiDAR sensor installed on the roof, a central component for the improvement of driver assistance systems (ADAS). At the rear, the vehicle retains root off-road features, such as the side-opening trunk door and the externally mounted spare tire, now under a new roof spoiler.
With a length of 5.10 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters, the Tank 700 Hi4-Z is equipped with a 2.0 turbo engine with 248 hp. The mechanical differential lies in the 59.05 kWh ternary lithium battery, which powers the hybrid system. For comparison purposes, this capacity exceeds that of entry-level electric models sold in the global market.
The SUV also reinforces its utilitarian vocation with a towing capacity of up to 2,500 kg (with brake). The combined consumption disclosed by the brand is 8.45 liters per 100 km, a competitive number for a vehicle of its weight and dimensions, which can be equipped with wheels of up to 21 inches and gold finishes on the bodywork.
