Geely has consolidated an aggressive commercial offensive to put BYD’s hegemony in the Chinese market in check. After a record financial statement in 2025, with revenues of 345.2 billion yuan (about R$ 262.8 billion), the automaker revised its ambitions: the sales target for 2026 was set at 3.45 million units, approaching the 3.55 million recorded by the rival last year.

The growth strategy is based on portfolio diversification. Unlike BYD, which focuses exclusively on electrified vehicles, Geely maintains a strong focus on combustion and hybrid models, a factor that allowed the brand to take the lead in total sales volume in the first two months of 2026. The plan for this year includes raising global production to 3 million vehicles, exceeding the original target of 2.7 million.

On the international scene, Geely projects to sell 750 thousand units outside China in 2026. To sustain this progress, the company plans to expand its network to 1,300 global dealerships and accelerate the launch of the Galaxy and Lynk & Co lines in Europe, using technical collaboration with brands controlled by the group, such as Volvo, Smart and Lotus.

Brazil plays a central role in this expansion phase through the strategic partnership with Renault, within the scope of the Horse project. The national production will be concentrated in the industrial complex of São José dos Pinhais (PR), where the EX2 and the EX5 hybrid models will be manufactured. The move signals that the dispute for Asian leadership will have, on Brazilian soil, one of its most strategic battlefields, combining Geely’s expertise in thermal engines with the French manufacturer’s productive capillarity.
