Geely has made it official that the EX2 electric hatch will be produced domestically in São José dos Pinhais (PR), using the structure of the Renault factory. The move is made possible by the global partnership between the French automaker and the Chinese group, which will transform the Ayrton Senna industrial complex into a strategic base for the operation. Expected to hit the assembly lines between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027, the EX2 will be the first 100% electric vehicle manufactured at the Paraná plant.

Market strategy and offensive against BYD

Currently imported from China, the Geely EX2 has quickly consolidated itself in the domestic market, occupying the third position among the best-selling electric vehicles in Brazil even though it was launched in October. In 2025, the hatch figured in the ranking of registrations, positioning itself as the main direct competitor of BYD’s Dolphin line. Nationalization should give greater logistical and tax breath to face the dominance of her countrywomen in the country.

The model is offered in Pro and Max versions, both equipped with a 116 hp rear electric motor and a 39.4 kWh battery. According to the Inmetro standard, the autonomy is 289 km. One of the technical advantages is the fast charging capacity of up to 70 kW, which allows the energy level to be raised from 20% to 80% in 21 minutes.

The list of standard items includes full-LED headlights, digital panel and 14.6-inch multimedia center. The top-of-the-line configuration adds driving assistance technologies (ADAS). In addition to the industrial announcement, the brand confirmed that, starting this Friday (27), the EX2 receives a software update to integrate Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, meeting a recurring demand from Brazilian consumers.
