The Chinese automaker GAC has started the pre-sale of the GS3 compact SUV in Brazil. The operation takes place through a partnership with Mercado Livre, where interested parties can already reserve the vehicle by paying a down payment of R$ 4 thousand. The price of the model has not yet been disclosed, but the reservation is refunded in case of withdrawal of the purchase after the revelation.

Contrary to other Asian manufacturers that landed in the domestic market prioritizing electrification, GAC will bet on an exclusively combustion model. The strategy aims to compete directly with compact SUVs already established in the taste of the Brazilian consumer.

On-board mechanics and technology

The GAC GS3 arrives equipped with a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, equipped with direct injection. The engine delivers 170 hp of power and 25,5 kgfm of torque, coupled to a seven-speed automated dual-clutch transmission (DCT). According to the manufacturer, the set takes the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in eight seconds.

With a length of 4.41 meters and a wheelbase of 2.65 meters, the utility has a trunk with a capacity of 341 liters and electric lid activation. In the cabin, the dashboard integrates a 14.6″ multimedia center with wireless mirroring and a 7″ digital instrument panel. The driving assistance package (ADAS) encompasses adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and blind spot alert.

Versions and plans for Brazil

Available in Elite and Elite Plus configurations, the SUV will have its official prices announced in March, with the first deliveries scheduled for the end of the month. The initial color palette is restricted to black, silver, and white.

The debut of GS3 acts as the starting point for GAC’s launches in 2026. The brand has already confirmed the arrival of the Aion UT electric hatch for the second quarter, in addition to the introduction of two large SUVs in the second half of the year.
