GAC advances in its nationalization strategy and prepares the ground for the debut of the GAC GS3 in the Brazilian market. The compact SUV, which will be the Chinese automaker’s gateway to the country, has already had its homologation registered and bets on a 100% combustion configuration to compete in the most competitive segment of the sector, currently led by Volkswagen T-Cross, Hyundai Creta and Chevrolet Tracker.

The homologation documentation, according to Motor1, reveals that the GS3 will arrive in two versions, both equipped with a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine. The mechanical set stands out for its performance above the category average: there are 177 hp of power and 27,5 kgfm of torque, coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. According to factory data, the SUV completes the 0 to 100 km/h in about 8 seconds.

In addition to power, the size is another asset of the model. With a length of 4.41 meters, a width of 1.85 m and a wheelbase of 2.65 m, the GS3 offers generous dimensions that bring it closer to medium SUVs, ensuring competitive interior space. The design adopts the brand’s current visual language, characterized by angular lines, a geometric front grille integrated into the headlights and door handles built into the bodywork.

Although the list of equipment for Brazil has not been made official, the expectation is that the package will follow the international standard, including a digital panel integrated with the multimedia, cameras with 360° vision, panoramic sunroof and driving assistants (ADAS). In safety tests by ASEAN NCAP (the Southeast Asia assessment program), the model obtained the maximum score of five stars.

GAC has not yet confirmed the exact launch date, but the GS3 is expected to land with prices between R$ 130 thousand and R$ 160 thousand, aggressively positioning itself at the top of the compact table.
