The documentary “2DIE4: 24 Hours on the Edge” set a milestone for Brazilian audiovisual production by holding its premiere in New York on February 19, with a sold-out capacity at the AMC Empire 25 complex. The work is established as the first Brazilian feature film entirely conceived for the giant and high-resolution screens of the IMAX format.

Before landing in the New York metropolis, the production followed a strategic route of exhibitions in Florida. In Daytona, 20 sessions were held simultaneously with the city’s iconic 24-hour race. Miami also hosted four screenings. The official launch in the North American market will take place between April 16 and 20, exclusively on the IMAX circuit, before reaching conventional theaters. In Brazil, the premiere is scheduled for April 30, with distribution by O2 Play and sponsorship by Porsche Brazil.

Directed by brothers Salomão and André Abdala, the project is already breaking records: the duo became the youngest in history to direct a feature for IMAX, surpassing the previous mark of Ryan Coogler, director of “Black Panther”. The film promises to immerse the viewer in the perspective of driver Felipe Nasr — who recently led the No. 7 Porsche Penske to victory at Daytona — during his participation in the traditional 24 Hours of Le Mans, in France. The European race, created in 1923, is the most prestigious endurance race in the world and works as an extreme laboratory for the automotive industry.

Developed over seven years, “2DIE4” earned the directors the trophy for Best Feature-Length Documentary at the Motor Sports Film Award 2025. Inspired by filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, the Abdala brothers prioritized real-world action and practical effects, forgoing plastered scripts and computer-generated imagery (CGI) to capture the tensions and authentic decisions of the tracks. The work also has the support of the Urban and Malhi brands.
