Subaru has ended the sale of zero-kilometer vehicles in Brazil, according to Autoesporte. The definitive milestone of this retraction was the closure of its last dealership in the country, located in São Paulo (SP), after the stock of the 2023 line of the Subaru Forester SUV was sold out. From now on, the brand’s local operation will be restricted to maintenance and after-sales services.

The commercial decline of the Japanese manufacturer is not sudden: since July 2025, the future of the automaker was already treated with uncertainty, given the absence of launches and the lack of forecast for the arrival of new import batches. At the time, the last copies of the Forester were sold exclusively at the São Paulo store.

On Monday (23), employees confirmed to the magazine that the last sales address was effectively deactivated. The definitive blow to the brand’s offer is directly linked to the entry into force of Proconve L8, in January 2025. Environmental legislation established stricter emission limits that the manufacturer’s engines would not meet without significant investments.

Without the necessary update – made unfeasible by the historical low volume of registrations in the country – the Forester could not continue to be imported. The last 2023 units had to be registered by March last year to enter the market legally, sold as used cars.

Imported from Japan, the SUV says goodbye to the country by combining the traditional 150 hp 2.0 boxer gasoline engine with a mild hybrid system, linked to the CVT gearbox and all-wheel drive. Interestingly, the model is still on the official website, priced at R$ 253.900.

Despite the exit from the new market, Subaru’s representation, under the umbrella of the Caoa group, guarantees service to the current owners. The technical assistance network will be maintained through workshops of other brands of the conglomerate and independent partners, ensuring compliance with revisions, supply of parts and warranties.
