The Amazonas State Traffic Department (Detran-AM) will once again offer, this Thursday (12/25), services related to the National Driver’s License (CNH). Candidates who have started the steps to obtain the first CNH through the CNH do Brasil application can now schedule appointments through the institution’s website to continue the process.

Driver’s license services were suspended on December 16 to adapt the system due to the changes determined by the Federal Government to obtain the CNH.

With the normalization of the system, all services are available to the population, except for automatic CNH renewals, whose implementation is scheduled for January 12 due to the updates that must be carried out by the Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), in compliance with Contran Resolution No. 1,020/2025.

CNH do Brasil

All candidates who have started the steps in the CNH do Brasil application need to schedule the first license service through the Detran-AM website for the service, as well as all services at Detran-AM regarding the license continue to need scheduling.

The steps are as follows:

The candidate who wants to get the first CNH can start the steps through the CNH do Brasil application. If the user already has the previous application, Digital Transit Card (CDT), just update it.

Then, the candidate can take the free digital theoretical course offered by the Ministry of Transport. Upon completion of the course, the certificate is automatically issued and registered in the National Traffic System (SNT). Thus, the candidate must schedule and start the process of obtaining the CNH with the DMV, for the subsequent scheduling of the theoretical exam.

After theoretical approval, the practical course must be started. The new process for obtaining a CNH determines a minimum of two hours of mandatory practical classes, which can be held at a driving school or with an authorized instructor.

With the practical course completed, it is time to schedule the practical exam at Detran-AM to obtain the Driving Permit (PPD).

The Ministry of Transport points out that the ability to drive continues to be evaluated by mandatory theoretical and practical exams carried out by Detrans. If the candidate fails the first test, he will be entitled to the first retest at no additional cost.
