Replacement for the E-Ray, 721 hp model inaugurates "X" nomenclature for electrified versions and starts production in the second half of the year in the US
Chevrolet unveiled the new 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport X, the model that marks a strategic transition in the line of the iconic North American sports car. The vehicle replaces the E-Ray hybrid and introduces the letter “X” as the official identification for the brand’s electrified all-wheel drive variants.
The mechanical set is led by the new generation of the LS6 engine, a 6.7-liter aspirated V8, positioned at the rear, which delivers 535 hp and 71,9 kgfm. This combustion engine works in conjunction with a 186 hp electric powertrain on the front axle. Combined, the systems generate 721 hp of total power. Chevrolet is still a mystery about the final acceleration data, but the expectation is that the model will surpass the rates of its predecessor.

In design, the Grand Sport X adopts the wider body inspired by the Z06 model, ensuring a more aggressive stance. The visual identity preserves the traditional sports stripes, now positioned on the rear fender, in addition to offering customization packages such as Admiral Blue. In terms of dynamics, the vehicle leaves the factory with Magnetic Ride Control suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires.
To manage energy delivery, the sports car has specific driving modes. Stealth mode allows you to run quietly with electricity at up to 80 km/h, while settings such as Qualifying and Push-to-Pass prioritize maximum performance on circuits.

Production of the Grand Sport X is expected to begin in the summer of 2026 at the Bowling Green plant, with sales expected in the second half of the year. Although the official price has not been disclosed, it is estimated that the starting price exceeds the US$ 111 charged by the current E-Ray.
