Denza Z9 GT debuts with giant batteries and a system that makes autonomous corrections to the steering wheel; sports station wagon belongs to BYD's luxury division
Denza, BYD’s luxury division, presented the Denza Z9 GT, an electric model that sets a new level of autonomy for the group’s electric vehicles. With a shooting brake station wagon body, the vehicle is the manufacturer’s first to break the 1,000 km range barrier on a single charge, consolidating the Chinese strategy of dominating the high-performance and luxury segment.
The technical highlight of the Z9 GT lies in its 122.5 kWh battery pack. In the Chinese cycle (CLTC) — more optimistic — the model reaches 1,036 km of autonomy, a jump of 64% compared to the brand’s entry-level configurations. For consumers looking for intermediate options, the manufacturer offers a version with 102.3 kWh (820 km of range) and a plug-in hybrid variant, equipped with a 63.82 kWh battery, capable of running 400 km exclusively in electric mode.

Internally, the model bets on a wheelbase of 3,125 mm to offer generous space. The panel consists of three digital screens, the central one being 17.3 inches. In addition to comfort, the Z9 GT debuts the God’s Eye 5.0 platform, a semi-autonomous driving system that integrates navigation with autopilot and emergency assistants capable of performing active steering wheel corrections to avoid frontal and side collisions.

Founded in 2011 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, Denza has undergone a strategic restructuring in recent years. Currently under majority control of BYD, the brand has become the group’s technological showcase for long-lasting batteries. The Z9 GT symbolizes this transition, positioning extreme autonomy as the main competitive pillar against traditional European brands in the global market.
