BYD takes Nissan's place at Manchester City, providing luxury fleets and stamping training uniforms for the men's and women's teams
BYD took another step in its global expansion strategy by announcing the sponsorship of the Manchester City team, replacing Nissan, which had been a partner of the club since 2014. The agreement covers both the men’s and women’s teams and marks the beginning of a new phase for the reigning Premier League champions from the 2026/2027 season. The partnership puts the Chinese manufacturer’s presence at the top of world sport, uniting leadership in sustainable mobility with the success of the British club.

Although the total values of the contract have not been revealed to the public, the partnership involves great visibility and complete logistics for the club. The BYD logo will be stamped on the men’s training shirts and on the sleeve of the women’s team’s training uniform. In addition to this exposure, the agreement provides for the supply of the brand’s vehicles, and also its luxury division (Denza), for the transport of the teams. A symbolic detail of the partnership is that a car of the brand will drive the team’s official bus on the routes to the stadiums.

The official announcement was attended by important leaders, such as BYD vice president Stella Li, City CEO Ferran Soriano and coach Pep Guardiola. In addition to Manchester City, the Chinese manufacturer has advanced over other European football giants, such as Inter Milan, where it replaced Volvo in a deal valid until 2028.
In Brazil, the strategy follows a similar pace of approach to the local consumer. The group has already closed a sponsorship with Corinthians and is studying a joint investment for the two main teams in Bahia, Bahia and Vitória, reinforcing its presence in the state where it has large-scale industrial operations.
