A 1989 jeep was pulling suitcases at the airport of Uruguaiana (RS) and registers only 33 thousand km on the odometer; Such preservation attracts buyers from all over the world
A 1989 Toyota Bandeirante with a unique service history has just been made available in the classic vehicle market. The utility, which belonged to the Infraero fleet and operated exclusively at the Rubem Berta International Airport, in Uruguaiana, in the far west of Rio Grande do Sul, registers only 33,986 kilometers traveled after almost four decades of manufacture.
The rarity is being offered with a focus on the foreign market, with a price set at 33 thousand euros. In direct conversion, this represents about R$ 233,000 charged on the Brazilian Classic Cars website.
Painted in the characteristic Mustard Yellow color, the jeep spent 30 years operating in a continuous but strictly delimited routine: its sole function was to tow luggage trolleys between the passenger terminal and the aircraft. The use represented an average of a mere three kilometers a day over the three decades — practically a warm-up for a vehicle designed to overcome obstacles.

The past of providing public services has left minimal marks. Externally, the only visual and structural alteration that attests to his time at the airport is a hole in the ceiling, originally made to house the mandatory service siren on the runway. The luggage trailer that accompanied it during its useful life is not part of the sale, as it was sold separately at a government auction.

Although the Bandeirante assembled in Brazil is visually identical to the Toyota Land Cruiser Series 40 (FJ40) marketed globally, the mechanical set houses a national peculiarity. Under the hood, instead of a Japanese engine, there is a robust 4.0-liter four-cylinder Mercedes-Benz diesel engine. The unit delivers 89 hp of power and 26,5 kgfm of torque, always coupled to a four-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive.
According to the advertiser, the interior of the vehicle remains with its original factory specifications, exhibiting only slight wear on the three-spoke steering wheel. Also focusing on international collecting, the seller offers logistical support for shipping the utility to ports in North America, Europe, Japan or Oceania.
