Repeat offender in dangerous maneuvers, driver overturned electric SUV in a busy region of Fortaleza; concessionaire will demand compensation for total loss
Businessman Valécio Granjeiro — who gained national notoriety in May 2025 by starring in the “flight” of a Ford Ranger Raptor over the dunes of Canoa Quebrada — has returned to the center of a traffic controversy. This time, the driver overturned a Denza B5 electric SUV — BYD’s luxury model valued at around R$ 436 thousand — during a test drive in Fortaleza (CE), on Monday afternoon (16).
Reported by Diário do NordesteI, the accident occurred on Washington Soares Avenue, in front of the Clóvis Beviláqua forum, one of the points of greatest flow in the capital of Ceará. According to the State Highway Police (PRE), Granjeiro lost control of the steering on the way back to the dealership. The impact was severe enough to deploy all the airbags and result in the total loss of the vehicle, which had to be removed by a tow truck under the eyes of onlookers passing by.

At the time of the collision, the businessman was accompanied by a sales consultant of the brand. The employee reported intense pain in one of her arms and was referred for medical evaluation, while the driver was unharmed. The breathalyzer test was negative, but Granjeiro’s conduct was already observed with caution by the concessionaire: the customer had requested a longer route to the Cidade 2000 neighborhood, but the company denied, restricting the route to the vicinity of the Forum for safety reasons.
Granjeiro’s recurrence in risky episodes behind the wheel guided the repercussion of the case. Last year, the images of his 4×4 pickup jumping at high speed over protected dunes resulted in very serious fines and the temporary suspension of his CNH. After the incident of worldwide repercussion, he was also involved in the crash of another Ford Ranger and the running over of a pit bull dog. The owner accuses him of having run away without helping the animal.

Representatives of the manufacturer who attended the site of the rollover stated that, although the SUV was insured, the civil liability clauses signed before the road test provide for compensation for damages caused by recklessness. Thus, the businessman will have to bear the loss of almost half a million reais. Sought by the report, Valécio Granjeiro refused to give statements about the causes of the accident or his history in traffic and was released by PRE agents shortly after the occurrence was registered.
