Survey shows Chevrolet's leadership in overall sales and highlights BYD Dolphin as the most liquid model in the domestic market
The intention to exchange or buy a new car is in the plans of 60% of Brazilian consumers for 2026. This is what the new edition of Radar Autos, a report prepared by Data OLX Autos, points out, which traces an x-ray of trends and behavior in the national automotive market. The survey reveals a very heated scenario: 38% of these potential buyers are willing to close a deal in the first half of the year. Another 28% adopt a more cautious stance and continue in the exploration phase, looking for the best opportunities without urgency.

When it comes to hitting the hammer, financial rationality dictates the rules. Securing a good resale value in the future is a decisive factor for 64% of respondents, while financing conditions weigh directly on 44%. And, despite the growing global debate about the electrification of the fleet, the Brazilian consumer maintains conservatism in garages. The overwhelming majority (78%) still prefer vehicles with internal combustion engines. Hybrid (8%) and 100% electric (3%) models remain niche options. The tradition is also reflected in the transmission: the manual transmission leads with 38% of the preference, surpassing the conventional automatic (22%) and the CVT (14%).
In the balance of deals made on the platform in the last 12 months, GM (Chevrolet) secured the position of manufacturer with the highest sales volume. However, the big surprise in terms of liquidity — the speed at which the car is sold — comes from China. The BYD Dolphin was the fastest used hatch, with up to three years of use, in the country. In the range of slightly more well-traveled models, from four to eight years old, the absolute leadership in speed of sale is the Hyundai HB20.
The fast-turning dynamic is repeated in other prestigious categories in the market. Among the most recent used cars, the Toyota Corolla dominates in sedans, and the Volkswagen Nivus pulls the line of SUVs. In the four- to eight-year showcase, Volkswagen Voyage and Hyundai Creta are the respective champions of their segments. The study also reveals the immense regional diversity of the country: while the Chevrolet Onix 2019 was the favorite in the North and Northeast, the Midwest bought more of the Fiat Uno 2012. Completing the map are the Jeep Compass 2022, the absolute leader in the South, and the Ford Fiesta 2014, the best-selling in the Southeast.
