VW will revive iconic names in electric cars

A pioneer in electric cars among European cars, the German brand will soon abandon the numbers to identify them

Volkswagen was one of the pioneers in introducing the electric car more than ten years ago, but paid a high price for this pioneering spirit.

And in addition to the electric platforms, which quickly became obsolete and even made a mistake by naming its battery cars ID.2, ID.3 and ID.4, numbers that mean nothing to the market or to the brand’s customers. And it was losing market share even in Germany to Tesla and the Chinese.

But the company’s board of directors realized the problem and decided on a quick technological and marketing turnaround. New models coming from new platforms and with names known all over the world. Now we will have ID. Polo, ID. Golf, ID. Tiguan, ID. Passat and so on.
