Rubber mat that goes over the carpet can impair driving

Non-standard accessory tends to slip under the pedals, reducing travel and compromising the car's handling

Especially in this rainy season, many drivers buy that rubber mat with squares to put on top of the original carpet. This avoids excess dirt if you enter with shoes dirty with dirt, mud or mud, as it is just a matter of removing the rubber mat and washing it separately.

But, this item that seems harmless can cause some problems. This happens mainly in cars that have the accelerator pedal suspended, which articulates at the top.

This mat usually runs forward, staying under the accelerator pedal and when the driver steps to the bottom, the pedal is not going down there, which reduces the performance, the power of the car. That’s why original factory mats always have a lock to prevent them from sliding under the accelerator pedal.
