The Ranger pickup is a success all over the world and from it derives a sports utility vehicle called Ford Everest. As the Ranger is produced in Argentina and imported to Brazil, there was then a lot of speculation that the Argentine factory could assemble the SUV.

Suspicions also indicated that the model could use the same mechanics as the pickup truck. But, Ford does not confirm and alleges difficulties in assembling the SUV in Argentina.

The automaker left between the lines that it may be due to an excess of taxation by the local government. So, won’t the Brazilian market have Ford’s Everest SUV based on the Ranger? Ford says it does intend to bring the model, not from Argentina, but from Thailand.
