Every tire has an engraved and legible manufacturing date

The expiration date of a tire is stamped on the side, indicating the year and week of production, which should not run if it exceeds 10 years

If the number is 3315, for example, it means that the item was manufactured in week 33 of the year 2015. (Photo: AutoPapo)

Many drivers ask me: is it worth buying used tires from a store where the owner changed the wheels after running for two years?

First of all, it is necessary to do a careful check of these tires to investigate that there are no tears or compromising repairs on the outer and inner sides. Secondly, it is necessary to check the date of manufacture of the tires.

This is because the set may have run for two years in the previous car, but have already been manufactured about four years ago, and the duration of a tire is usually five to six years.

And how do you know when those tires were produced? Just check the four digits on the sideband, the first two indicate the week, the other two the year of production. If the number is 1822, for example, it is in week 18 of the year 2022.
